Overlooked by soaring mountains - the glowering Andes to the east and smaller peaks to the west - this massive metropolis is packed with sights, from its UNESCO-protected 16th century San Francisco church to its handsome Plaza de Armes square, charming La Barrio district and elegant Club Hipico horseracing circuit. Our escorted tours of Chile give you plenty of time to get to know this irresistible city, savouring its markets, visiting its spectacular Andean viewpoints and tasting some of the robust Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon wines cultivated in the surrounding vineyards.
