CADENABBIA On the western lakeside with fine views over to Bellagio, picturesque Cadenabbia is perfectly placed for enjoying everything the lake offers. Shuttered houses and hotels fringe the water alongside a quay where regular ferries stop to take you to all Como's towns and beauty spots. No stay here is complete without visiting nearby Villa Carlotta - a splendid 17th century mansion replete with orange-scented gardens and extravagant, art-filled interiors.
TREMEZZINA Called the Azalean Riviera for the azaleas that bloom here in springtime, Tremezzina is a western stretch of lakeshore running from Lenno through Tremezzo to Cadenabbia. Here, classical hotels and villas gaze over the lake towards Bellagio and its lush mountain backdrop. Catch a ferry to explore this chocolate-box town, hike up Monte Grona for heart-stopping views or tour nearby Villa Balbianello, a fairytale villa crowning a beautiful promontory.
