The 'Big Apple' is one of the world's most exciting cities, buzzing with atmosphere and packed with fascinating sights and great shops. On today's sightseeing tour, see New York City's major attractions including Broadway, the Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, bustling Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street and Trinity Church. This evening choose from the many fine restaurants the city has to offer or enjoy one of the famous Broadway shows.
Leave Manhattan and head north-west through the renowned Pocono Mountains and the scenic farmlands of upstate New York. Later this afternoon, cross the border and proceed to the Canadian side of the Niagara River in the province of Ontario.
The power of Mother Nature overwhelms the senses as you marvel at Niagara Falls, one of the world's most incredible natural spectacles. In the morning enjoy an included sightseeing tour that offers spectacular views of the waterfalls from scenic points on the rim of the gorge and from the decks of the sightseeing cruise, where you will experience the thundering columns of water up close. The afternoon is free, so why not visit attractions such as the Butterfly Conservatory, Great Gorge Adventure, Botanical Gardens, Niagara Parks Greenhouse or ride the aerial cable car?
Head south-east, through the Appalachian Mountains and into the Susquehanna River Valley. Then it's on to the handsome city of Philadelphia for an overnight stay.
The 'City of Brotherly Love' is also the birthplace of American Independence, and is therefore steeped in history. The morning orientation tour focuses on the city's historic landmarks. There will be free time in which you can visit Independence Hall, see the Liberty Bell and other sites within Independence National Historic Park. Afterwards, continue to the US capital and seat of government, Washington DC.
This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour with a local guide that includes a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and see the graves of American heroes, including those of John F Kennedy and his brother Robert. After, visit the Lincoln Memorial with photo stops at Capitol Hill and the White House. Afternoon and evening are at leisure. Why not visit historic Union Station for a great international lunch.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Washington, New York or with a cruise.
NOTE: If you wish to extend your stay in New York, the transfer from Washington is by coach on the last day of your tour.
Enjoy the spectacular colours of the north-eastern states and Ontario. Weather permitting, the best time historically to see the autumn foliage is on departures between 8 September - 4 October.

Once we got there thoroughly enjoyed the experiences we had, however didn't find two days of our holiday sat on a bus travelling to Niagara and back acceptable. We felt we could have had an extra overnight stay or at least stopped somewhere of interest along the way. After our flight we arrived at 22.30, this was Day One of our holiday!!
Our tour took in all the sights we wanted to see and was so comprehensive & well organised.
Brilliant tour and did exactly as I had hoped - a whistle stop tour of the East Coast. Daryl the Tour Director provided a great introduction to the USA and really helped us to feel safe and excellent tips to help navigate around the cities we visited...

Excellent friendly, knowledgeable and helpful tour guide and good coach drivers. Packed in a great deal into 8 days.
Hotels too far out. Could only eat in hotels as the start time is early which means breakfast's are expensive. Some hotels had no restaurants near by. Had to go along walk or eat in. not much choice. Very hectic holiday.
A 'Life Experience to tick off'. Terrific trip.
