New England in the Fall + New York (4 nights)
A feast of contrasts, from bustling New York to the refinement and history of Cape Cod and Boston, and then on to the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont.
Stay a little longer in the 'Big Apple' and discover the sights this amazing city has to offer - from the Statue of Liberty to Broadway and the Empire State Building to Macy's, this is a city never to be forgotten.
On day 10 of your tour transfer to your New York hotel, the Holiday Inn Express 29th Madison Square for the next four nights, before transferring to the airport at the end of the stay for your overnight flight home.
Your Itinerary
DAY 1: UK - New York.
Fly to New York where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
DAY 2: New York City - Newport - Plymouth.
Take the New England Thruway via New Haven, home of Yale University and New London, then into the tiny state of Rhode Island to Newport, home of the world famous jazz festival and millionaire mansions. Here visit The Breakers, Cornelius Vanderbilt's magnificent Italian palazzo, before heading north into Massachusetts, and the historic seaside port of Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers landed in the Mayflower in 1620.
DAY 3: Plymouth.
Begin the day with a visit to Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum of 17th century Plymouth where costumed interpreters portray past residents of the colony. This afternoon you board a cruise boat for an exciting whale-watching expedition with commentary by a local marine biologist. These Atlantic waters are a prime feeding ground for finback and humpback whales, as well as dolphins. Afterwards, you will visit the historic town of Plymouth and Plymouth Rock, the spot where the Pilgrims landed. The evening is yours to relax or explore more of Plymouth.
DAY 4: Plymouth - Hyannis - Boston.
This morning you visit the Mayflower II and explore a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World. We then cross Buzzards Bay to Cape Cod, known for its temperate climate and scenic beauty. Our journey takes us to the port of Hyannis, where we will board an old-time coastal steamer replica to enjoy an unforgettable cruise into Lewis Bay. This afternoon, head for Boston, the 'Cradle of American Liberty', where your evening is free.
DAY 5: Boston - Ogunquit.
Boston has numerous impressive landmarks which reflect the role the city has played in the history of the United States. Your included sightseeing tour will take you to many of the major sights, including Beacon Hill, the Old North Church, Boston Common, and the Public Gardens. Afterwards there is time to explore Faneuil Hall before travelling to the picture perfect ocean front village of Ogunquit, a haven for writers and artists. In the evening, there's a chance to sample the delicious local fare on our optional lobster bake excursion.
DAY 6: Ogunquit - Lake Winnipesaukee cruise - North Conway.
Today marvel at New England's autumn splendour as we head through forests ablaze with colour to Lake Winnipesaukee, one of the region's largest and most beautiful stretches of water. Enjoy a cruise across this island-studded lake aboard the historic MS Mount Washington to the resort of Wolfeboro. Your overnight is in North Conway, with a backdrop of over 700,000 acres of protected White Mountain National Forest.
DAY 7: North Conway - Wildcat Mountain - Montpelier - Burlington.
This morning, travel to Wildcat Mountain, where there is time for an optional chairlift ride to the summit, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and as far north as Quebec. Travelling through glorious rolling countryside, we continue across New Hampshire. Next it's on to Vermont, where the birch, oak and maple leaves form a brilliant kaleidoscope of colours. After a stop in Montpelier, we visit a nearby maple syrup farm. Next we visit Cold Hollow Cider Mill which is one of the top producers of Fresh Apple Cider in all of New England.
DAY 8: Burlington - Lake Champlain - Lake Placid.
This morning we drive to the shores of Lake Champlain and board the ferry for the scenic crossing into the state of New York. Driving through the rugged foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, we reach the village of Lake Placid, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along Mirror Lake, or visit the Olympic Skating Centre.
DAY 9: Lake Placid - Saratoga - Albany area.
This morning you can explore on your own, so why not indulge in some souvenir shopping on Main Street? An orientation tour shows off the Saratoga's charming downtown with its Victorian buildings and one-of-a-kind boutiques. Overnight near the historic capital of New York State, Albany.
DAY 10: Albany - New York.
The final leg of the journey takes us south to New York for the next four nights.
DAY 11 to 13: New York.
Visit more sights and revel in city's plethora of fabulous restaurants, museums, shops and shows.
DAY 14: New York - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight home.
DAY 15: Home landing in the UK.

Lake Placid Cruise & Olympic Jumping Complex
The Lake Placid Marina features a one-hour narrated cruise aboard an all-weather scenic boat. Enjoy listening to the history of the stately manors that were built along the shore. This cruise takes the visitor from Lake Placid through the Adirondack wildlife and the magnificent Whiteface Mountain settings where the alpine events of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games were held.
