Fly to New York where you will transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Take the New England Thruway via New Haven, home of Yale University and New London, then into the tiny state of Rhode Island to Newport, home of the world famous jazz festival and millionaire mansions. Here visit The Breakers, Cornelius Vanderbilt's magnificent Italian palazzo, before heading north into Massachusetts to the historic seaside port of Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers landed in the Mayflower in 1620. Includes Breakfast
Begin the day with a visit to Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum of 17th century Plymouth where costumed interpreters portray past residents of the colony. This afternoon why not join an optional excursion for an exciting whale watching expedition with commentary by a local marine biologist? Afterwards, visit the historic town of Plymouth and Plymouth Rock, the spot where the Pilgrims landed. The evening is at leisure.
This morning, enjoy a visit to the Plimoth Grist Mill, a working, reconstruction of the original mill built by the Pilgrims in 1636 and located on the original site in Plymouth Colony. Later head for Boston, the 'Cradle of American Liberty', where the rest of the day is at leisure.
Boston has numerous impressive landmarks which reflect the role the city has played in the history of the United States. Enjoy an included guided sightseeing tour that takes in many of the major sights, including Beacon Hill, the Old North Church, Boston Common and the Public Gardens. Afterwards there is time to explore Faneuil Hall before travelling to the picture perfect ocean front village of Ogunquit, a haven for writers and artists. In the evening, why not sample the delicious local fare on an optional lobster bake excursion?
Today marvel at New England's autumn splendour as you head through forests ablaze with colour to Lake Winnipesaukee, one of the region's largest and most beautiful stretches of water. Enjoy a cruise across this island-studded lake aboard the historic MS Mount Washington to the resort of Wolfeboro. Overnight is in North Conway, with a backdrop of over 700,000 acres of protected White Mountain National Forest. Includes Breakfast
Travel through glorious rolling countryside and continue across New Hampshire into Vermont, where the birch, oak and maple leaves form a brilliant kaleidoscope of colour. After a stop in Montpelier, there is a visit to a nearby maple syrup farm. The rest of the evening is at leisure. Includes Breakfast
This morning drive to the shores of Lake Champlain and board the ferry for the scenic crossing into the state of New York. Driving through the rugged foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, reach the village of Lake Placid. The rest of the day is leisure so perhaps take a stroll along Mirror Lake, or visit the Olympic Skating Centre. Includes Breakfast
This morning is at leisure, so why not indulge in some souvenir shopping on Main Street? An orientation tour shows off Saratoga's charming downtown with its Victorian buildings and one-of-a-kind boutiques. Includes Breakfast
