Your Itinerary
DAY 1: UK - Rome.
Fly to Rome where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to get acquainted with this historic city.
DAY 2: Rome.
This morning enjoy an included city sightseeing tour with a local guide, taking in many of the ancient and wonderful sights this most famous of cities has to offer. Highlights include St Peter's Square, the Roman Forum and the instantly recognisable Colosseum. The afternoon is free for you to explore on your own, or we have a range of optional activities you might like to consider. (B)
DAY 3: Rome - Montecatini.
Today begins with a relaxing scenic drive through the beautiful Chianti Valley, dotted with enchanting villages, olive groves and rolling hills covered in vineyards. Stop at the well-known Vicchiomaggio estate, visit the wine cellars and enjoy an included lunch accompanied by wines from their own collection. Continue to Pisa and marvel at its famous leaning tower, before heading onto the spa town of Montecatini, where you will spend the next four nights. (B, L, D)
DAY 4: Siena and San Gimignano.
Today's excursion takes in the exquisite, historic city of Siena, whose well-preserved medieval and gothic streets converge at the grand Piazza del Campo. Then, head to the town of San Gimignano, characterised by its distinctive towers, and set atop a hill affording panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside. (B)
DAY 5: Florence.
The jewel in the crown, Tuscany's capital is simply overflowing with wonderful Renaissance art and architecture. Traffic is partly banned which makes it easy to wander at leisure and admire its timeless beauty. Your full day excursion includes a guided tour taking in the sightseeing highlights such as Piazza Santa Croce, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo. (B)
DAY 6: Montecatini. At leisure.
The day is yours to relax as you see fit. Alternatively, if you would like to see more of this lovely area, join our optional excursion to Lucca and Vinci. Historic Lucca is famous for its magnificent churches and medieval fortifications, and as the former home of composers Boccherini and Puccini, whilst Vinci's most famous son, is none other than Leonardo da Vinci. (B, D)
DAY 7: Assisi - Rome.
As your tour of Tuscany draws to a close today, travel to the region of Umbria for a visit to the splendid hillside town of Assisi, birthplace of St Francis. A delightful walled town, it is dominated by the Basillica, within which resides St Francis' tomb, and at its heart, a series of frescoes by Giotto, depicting scenes from the saints life. Later, return to Rome for the night. (B)
DAY 8: Rome - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Sorrento. (B)
