Seven historic North American cities are the cornerstones of this tour, their soaring skylines are a perfect foil to the awesome splendour of Niagara Falls.
Your Itinerary
DAY 1: UK - New York.
Fly to New York where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
DAY 2: New York City - Boston.
This morning explore the 'Big Apple', one of the world's most exciting cities. On today's sightseeing see New York City's major attractions, including the Empire State Building, Broadway, Greenwich Village, Chinatown and Trinity Church. Afterwards head for Boston, the 'Cradle of American Liberty'. An elegant city, which combines early colonial history with modern innovation, Boston has many historic landmarks which reflect the important part it has played in the United States' history.
DAY 3: Boston.
On your guided morning tour of Boston, see Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church and Boston Common. This afternoon is free, so why not visit Copley Square, Chinatown or the Museum of Fine Arts?
DAY 4: Boston - New Hampshire - Vermont - Quebec City area.
Experience a journey through New Hampshire, passing the state's Capital Dome at Concord and the scenic White Mountains. Capture inspiring views of mountain scenery, vast forests and innumerable lakes on the drive through Vermont. It's then on to the Canadian border, where you'll notice a sudden change in language and tradition as you enter the French-Canadian province of Quebec.
DAY 5: Quebec City area.
Today starts with a guided tour of North America's only walled city, crowned by the great turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Until the British victory of 1759, Old Quebec was the centre of 'New France', and has now been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Within the walls are the Place d'Armes, the Laval Seminary, the star-plan Citadelle and the ancient Place Royale. Also see the old-world houses crowding the narrow streets in Lower Town by the St Lawrence River and the historic Plains of Abraham. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore further or relax.
DAY 6: Quebec City area - Montreal.
Today drive to cosmopolitan Montreal, one of the world's largest French-speaking cities. Major attractions on this afternoon's sightseeing tour include modern and Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, St Joseph's Oratory, and a photo stop at the top of Mount Royal.
DAY 7: Montreal - Ottawa.
Travel to Canada's beautiful capital Ottawa, situated on the Ottawa River. Your included tour of the city begins on Parliament Hill with its gothic buildings. See the Governor General's official residence, the Rideau Canal Falls, the National Arts Centre, and the stately residences and embassies. With your free afternoon, take the opportunity to visit the Canadian Museum of Civilisation or Byward Market.
DAY 8: Ottawa - Kingston - Toronto.
Follow the route of the Rideau Canal south to the amazing St Lawrence Islands National Park, where you'll enjoy an included scenic cruise along the St Lawrence River, past wooded islands with beautiful summer homes. Make a short stop in the historic city of Kingston, before heading on to Toronto, Ontario's capital and Canada's largest city.
DAY 9: Toronto.
The 1,815-feet high CN Tower, one of the tallest towers in the world, is just one of Toronto's stunning architectural highlights. Others include the New City Hall Plaza, the downtown banking district and the ultra-modern Roger's Centre. The remainder of the day is yours to explore other sights. Tonight, why not join us for an optional dinner at the top of the soaring CN Tower?
DAY 10: Toronto - Niagara Falls.
Travel around the west end of Lake Ontario, through rich farmlands and vineyards to visit one of the world's most amazing natural wonders, Niagara Falls. Your included sightseeing will offer you spectacular views of the waterfalls from scenic points along the edge of the gorge, and from the decks of the Maid of the Mist where you will experience the thundering columns of water up close! Your overnight stay is in the Niagara Falls area.
DAY 11: Niagara Falls - Lancaster.
Leave Canada today and head through the Appalachian Mountains and along a portion of the winding Susquehanna River, into the rich Pennsylvania Dutch farm country. This is an area populated by 17th and 18th century settlers from Germany, who retain many elements of their traditional culture. Your overnight is in Lancaster County.
DAY 12: Lancaster - Washington DC area.
Lancaster County is the home of the Amish and Mennonite sects. This morning stop at the Amish Farm and House. A local guide explains the faith and way of life of these people whose tradition forbids the use of electricity or telephones in the home. Then on to Washington DC for an afternoon arrival.
DAY 13: Washington DC area.
A full day to explore the world's most influential and powerful capital city. Your guided sightseeing includes a visit to the Lincoln Memorial and photo stops at Capitol Hill and the White House. Next cross the Potomac River to visit the Arlington National Cemetery and see the graves of American heroes, including those of Robert and John F Kennedy. This afternoon is free so why not visit historic Union Station for lunch?
DAY 14: Washington DC area - Philadelphia - New York.
Drive to Philadelphia, the birthplace of American Independence and now the USA's fourth largest city. Your orientation tour focuses on the important historic landmarks. Afterwards return to New York City where the evening is yours at leisure.
DAY 15: New York - UK.
