Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Vancouver.

Fly to Vancouver where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for two nights.

DAY 2: Vancouver.

This morning your sightseeing includes Stanley Park, Chinatown and quaint Gastown, as well as the harbour and beaches. For the afternoon, shoppers and browsers can take a water taxi to lively Granville Island with its outdoor markets, street musicians and waterfront cafés.

DAY 3: Vancouver - Kelowna.

Today travel to the resort city of Kelowna, attractively set on the shores of Okanagan Lake and surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Sample the local wines on the winery tour this afternoon.

DAY 4: Kelowna - Rogers Pass - Banff National Park.

On to Glacier National Park, where the coach climbs the 4,379-ft-high Rogers Pass. Stop here for lunch, a perfect spot for photos of the impressively steep mountain cliffs and surrounding glaciers. Then over Kicking Horse Pass, peaking at 5,421 feet. Reach Banff National Park, gateway to the majestic Canadian Rockies, by early evening.

DAY 5: Banff.

Banff is one of Canada's favourite year-round resorts with many summer outdoor activities. Perhaps try the optional helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies or an evening filled with musical entertainment.

DAY 6: Banff - Columbia Icefield - Jasper National Park.

A day of scenic grandeur. First to Lake Louise, its cold turquoise waters are a perfect natural mirror reflecting the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Precipitous gorges, snow-capped mountain ranges and lakes of exquisite colour come into view as the coach scales two mountain passes. A highlight of today is a stop at the Columbia Icefield for a snowcoach ride over the 1,200-foot-thick Athabasca Glacier. This afternoon join an optional raft trip down the historic Athabasca River. Your accommodation for the next two nights is in Jasper National Park. Note: Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the availability of the Columbia Icefield snowcoach excursion.

DAY 7: Jasper.

Join the optional excursion to Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, with a narrated cruise of the lake. On the return journey, stop to view mighty Maligne Canyon. With much of the afternoon and evening free, you might take a hike along the trails and look for majestic elk.

DAY 8: Jasper - Mount Robson - Sun Peaks.

Leave Jasper following the Fraser River to the base of spectacular Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, peaking at 12,972 feet. The Yellowhead Highway continues along the mighty Thompson River with spectacular vistas of the Monashee Mountains. Overnight in the alpine setting of Sun Peaks.

DAY 9: Sun Peaks - Lillooet - Whistler.

Today trace the once treacherous Cariboo Wagon Trail. Via Lillooet - 'mile 0' of the gold rush route - follow the shores of Seton and Duffey Lakes with a mid-afternoon arrival in Whistler.

DAY 10: Whistler - ferry crossing - Victoria.

This morning, set sail across the Strait of Georgia through the spectacular Gulf Islands, known for its Mediterranean-like climate, for an afternoon arrival in Victoria. Sightseeing here includes Marine Drive, Bastion Square, and Thunderbird Park with its collection of totem poles.

DAY 11: Victoria.

This morning visit world famous Butchart Gardens, one of Victoria's most celebrated sites and rated among the most beautiful gardens in the world. Once there, stroll through the colourful arrangements of the Sunken Garden, the Japanese and Italian Gardens, the English Rose Garden and the magnificent Ross Fountain. This afternoon is at leisure to discover some of the attractions of this splendid city, including the Royal British Columbia Museum, afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel, whale watching on the Strait of Juan de Fuca and fine shopping along Government Street.

DAY 12: Victoria - Vancouver.

Early this morning board the ferry for a scenic crossing to Vancouver for a mid-morning arrival. The afternoon is free to explore Robson Street and experience British Columbia's premier shopping and entertainment location.

DAY 13: Cruise departure.

Transfer to your cruise ship, MS Zuiderdam for embarkation. Sailing time is around 5pm. This evening enjoy a lavish à la carte dinner.

DAY 14: Inside Passage cruising.

The beauty of the Inside Passage will amaze you as you cruise past 1,000 miles of epic scenery, towering glaciated mountains, roaring waterfalls, endless islands and virgin forests. There is also plenty of animal and marine life to look out for: sea lions, eagles and porpoises. (B, L, D)

DAY 15: Juneau.

An afternoon arrival in Juneau, Alaska's capital. The city has a gold rush story to rival that of Klondike, and is only accessible by seaplane or boat. An optional wildlife cruise and salmon fishing will normally be available, and you'll also have the opportunity to take an optional excursion to Juneau's own glacier, Mendenhall. This impressive river of blue ice is about 1.5 miles wide and over 12 miles long! (B, L, D)

DAY 16: Skagway.

Morning arrival in Skagway, Alaska's gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush in Canada's Yukon. Skagway was the turbulent staging point for prospectors and still has old-fashioned weathered boardwalks and old-time saloons. Optional sightseeing includes a ride in a vintage parlour car to see the White Pass and Yukon route. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore some more, before setting sail again late this evening. (B, L, D)

DAY 17: Glacier Bay.

Cruise into spectacular Glacier Bay early this morning, where forests give way to a rugged landscape rising to rocky peaks. Sixteen huge mountains converge to create an awe-inspiring panoramic wonder, a dramatic scene of awesome glaciers and massive icebergs. Wildlife is abundant, and you may spot eagles, seals, mountain goats, moose and bears in their natural habitat. (B, L, D)

DAY 18: Ketchikan.

A morning arrival in colourful Ketchikan, situated on Revillagigedo Island and known as the 'salmon capital of the world'. Here, a picturesque harbour shelters fishing boats and seaplanes. A wide choice of optional excursions will be available, including an outing to see Indian Heritage Villages, Totem Bight State Park and 'flightseeing' to Misty Fjords National Monument. Evening departure from Ketchikan. (B, L, D)

DAY 19: At sea.

Continue cruising south along British Columbia's spectacular coastline. Animal and marine life are abundant in this area and with a little luck you may spot a pod of graceful orca whales. (B, L, D)

DAY 20: Vancouver - UK.

On arrival at the cruise terminal, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Vancouver. (B)

DAY 21: Home landing in the UK.
