Your Itinerary

DAY 1: UK - Barcelona.

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your cruise ship, Norwegian Spirit. (D)

DAY 2: Toulon.

Toulon combines the glamour of the French Riviera with the tranquil atmosphere of a traditional French town and gives you the chance to discover the real Cote d'Azur. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Livorno (for Pisa and Florence).

On the western shores of Tuscany, 16th century Livorno is the gateway to two of Italy's most poetic cities - Pisa and Florence. Founded in 1577 by the Medici family, its photogenic centre is an easy walk from the port and features lovely canals, bridges and plazas fringed with chic cafés and shops. Nearby, Pisa is famed for its amazing Leaning Tower and magnificent cathedral while Florence, the capital of Renaissance art, is home to the magnificent Uffizi Gallery featuring works by Michelangelo and Da Vinci, the Piazza del Duomo, the statue-filled Piazza della Signoria and the fairytale Ponte Vecchio bridge. DAY 4: Civitavecchia (for Rome).

Today, don't miss an optional excursion to witness the glory that is Rome. Italy's capital overflows with Roman, Renaissance and Baroque treasures, making it a sightseer's dream. Witness the vast and glorious St Peter's Square, the majestic St Peter's Basilica and splendid Clemente's Basilica before enjoying a guided tour of the mighty Colosseum, where gladiators once fought for their lives, cheered on by 50,000 baying spectators. DAY 5: Naples.

A captivating combination of vibrant street life and historical grandeur, Naples is an exhilarating city set in a breathtaking position between mighty Mount Vesuvius and the shimmering Bay of Naples. Explore the wealth of cultural treasures and atmospheric sights at leisure or perhaps join an optional trip to visit the chic shops and glamorous piazzettas of beautiful Capri island, the remarkable remains of Pompeii - the ash-covered remnants of a city populated by 25,000 people before Vesuvius exploded into life in 79AD, or the soaring slopes and crater of Mount Vesuvius National Park itself. DAY 6: At sea.

DAY 7: Mykonos.

Reaching the traditional yet sophisticated island of Mykonos this morning, enjoy free time to wander the winding, white-washed lanes or join the optional tour to the nearby island of Delos, the birthplace of the god of the sun, Apollo, and a sacred island in ancient times. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Istanbul.

The former capital of three empires, Istanbul, straddles Europe and Asia and is a melting pot of culture, religion, ancient history and modernity. Savour its unique atmosphere and beauty with optional visits to the exquisite Blue Mosque, with its intricate blue and white-tiled facades or St Sophia Church, with its wonderful Byzantine mosaics. DAY 9: Izmir.

Known as the 'Pearl of the Aegean', this vibrant city boasts sandy beaches and palm-lined promenades and serves as the gateway for many of Turkey's finest archaeological sites. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure or perhaps join an optional city tour. Alternatively take an optional tour of Ephesus, the best-preserved ancient city in the Mediterranean. Walk its pillar-lined Marble Street and admire the magnificent Great Theatre, which once seated 24,000 people. (B, L, D)

DAY 10: Athens.

Why not join the optional tour of the legendary city of Athens today? View the splendid Parthenon of its Acropolis, Constitution Square, Plaka district and Hadrian's Arch, a gift to Athens from the Roman Emperor. Alternatively, join an excursion to the Corinth Canal, the incredible four-mile channel connecting the Ionian and Aegean Seas, followed by a visit to Corinth to view the Greek and Roman architectural ruins of this once thriving city including the Basilica and racetrack. Or perhaps visit Mycenae, one of Greece's finest treasures to view enthralling ruins such as the famed Lion's Gate and Beehive Tomb. (B, L, D)

DAY 11: At sea.

Reaching Venice this afternoon, explore this amazing city at leisure. This evening, enjoy one more night on board. (B, L, D)

DAY 15: Venice - UK.
