Northern Europe touring and cruising holidays
Medieval cities, picturesque waterways, vivid tulip fields and emerald pastures: our escorted tours to Northern Europe reveal a charming world of contrasts and sights, many of which have managed to stay off the mainstream tourist radar.
From delightful Holland to lush green Liechtenstein and historic Belgium, we’ve crafted our range of Northern European holidays to cover some of the area’s most fascinating destinations and cities.
However you like to travel – whether you want to cruise Northern Europe or take one of our escorted tours of Northern Europe – our Rhine river cruises and pan-European itineraries will unravel a string of intriguing places and discoveries at the perfect pace.
Tour or cruise Northern Europe
Cruise to Northern Europe by ferry or Eurostar and depending on your chosen itinerary, we’ll transport you to beguiling Belgium. Lose yourself in charismatic Brussels, with its fine Art Nouveau architecture and magnificent Grand Place flanked with Baroque halls, tempting chocolate shops, cosy cellar restaurants and lively, brass-trimmed bars. It’s one of Europe’s finest squares and dates back to the 12th century, so it’s well worth making time for.
Some of our escorted tours to Northern Europe also visit Liechtenstein. Wedged between Austria and Switzerland, this tiny principality measures just 25 kilometres by six, but packs a massive scenic punch, thanks to its soaring mountains, chocolate-box towns and oh-so-quaint, castle-topped capital of Vaduz.
Alternatively, why not cruise Northern Europe with us? Many of our Rhine river cruises feature time in Holland. Topping the agenda is its elegant capital, Amsterdam. Famed for its gentle canals, step-gabled merchants’ houses and pretty, arched bridges, this irresistible city is packed with highlights, including glittering diamond centres and its poignant Anne Frank House and Van Gogh Museum, to name a few.
When you cruise in Northern Europe on one of our Rhine river journeys, you can also discover more of Holland. See the delightful UNESCO-listed windmills at Kinderdijk, which date back to the 15th century. Meander through idyllic West-Friesland to Volendam, a charming wooden fishing village where many residents still wear traditional Dutch costume. And dive into Holland’s oldest town of Nijmegen, whose beginnings stretch back to a Roman military camp in the 1st century AD.
