Malta holidays and tours
Malta absorbs influences from Sicily, Italy, North Africa and even Britain and fuses them into one intriguing island. Throw in sunbaked landscapes, honey-stoned cities and a generous dose of colourful history dating from prehistoric times through to Roman occupation and 19th century British rule, and you’ve got a fascinating destination, which benefits from warm sunshine 300 days a year.
Our Malta tours and holidays in Malta reflect the best of this captivating island, letting you slow your step to match its mellow lifestyle and enjoy leisurely journeys around its highlights. From marvelling at its wild, cliff-lined coastline and blue-watered bays to delving into its romantic capital of Valletta and peaceful neighbour of Gozo – they provide the perfect, well-paced introductions to this one-of-a-kind island.
Highlights of our escorted tours of Malta
Our Malta tours combine plenty of free time with tours and optional excursions focused on all the island’s showstoppers. Soak up the sun and glittering Mediterranean views in cosmopolitan Sliema, Malta’s premier seaside resort. Explore the exquisite 16th century capital of Valletta: a UNESCO-listed city choc-a-bloc with treasures built during the time of the Knights of John, including the breathtaking St. John’s Co-Cathedral, stepped streets, palazzos and fine balconied houses. Take a cruise around Valetta Grand harbour, one the most spectacular in the world. And head into Malta’s interior to discover its former capital, Mdina or the ‘Silent City’ – a walled oasis of hushed alleyways and stone streets dominated by a grand 17th century cathedral.
Our tours of Malta also showcase other landmarks, calling at the epic Dingli Cliffs and offering optional excursions around the spectacular sea caverns and rock formations of the Blue Grotto. You can also admire the stunning San Anton Botanical Gardens, awash with exotic trees, plants and flowers, and wonder at the Hagar Qim Temples – enormous stone structures standing on a lonely hilltop, dating back a staggering 5,000 years and more.
We’ve also designed some of our tours to Malta to include its idyllic sister island, Gozo. Made up of three hills, this little gem is home to the mysterious Ggantija Temples, built in around 3,600 BC, and the breathtaking coastal rock arch of the Azure Window. You’ll also dip your toes into Gozo’s peaceful capital, Victoria, a honey-stoned jewel spread in the shadow of an imperious Citadel.
