Europe’s largest Baroque city yet tiny with it, this lovely place serves up gorgeous Baroque squares, a gilded cathedral and an impressive castle, all of which are begging to be discovered. Then there’s Riga, the jewel in Latvia’s crown. Here, decorative Art Nouveau buildings cluster round an oh-so-pretty old town of lovely churches, charming squares and medieval merchants’ buildings. And last but not least, there’s red-roofed Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. This chocolate-box ensemble is all spires, domes and steeples huddled around old-worlde squares, cobbled lanes and the hilltop Toompea castle.
