Laos holidays & tours
The mystical heritage and beauty of Laos never fail to delight. From gold-domed temples to pristine jungles, vibrant street markets to processions of saffron-robed Buddhist monks, this enchanting country is one of the romantic places you’ll experience in Asia and still largely unexplored by tourists.
We’ve designed our Laos tours as optional preludes or finales to our Vietnam and Cambodia holidays, so as well as experiencing some of its highlights, you’ll also explore other parts of the exotic southeastern Asian peninsula, all in one thrilling journey.
Highlights of our Laos tours
Our Laos tours focus firmly on its former royal capital, Luang Prabang. Set against a sumptuous mountain backdrop and on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city is a feast for the senses. Think over 40 beautiful Buddhist temples studding its wooded gardens and streets, lively street markets and a serene religious atmosphere that’s intensely charming. As well as admiring Luang’s finest temples, our Laos tours also lift the lid on the town’s splendid Royal Palace-Museum, the fascinating local culture and some nearby natural wonders. Sample ‘lao, lao’ the potent rice whisky made in Mekong-bank villages and wonder at the astonishing Pak Ou Caves, a series of caverns crammed with gold-lacquered statues of Buddha left by pilgrims through the centuries. You’ll also get the chance to see Luang’s early morning alms-collections by Buddhist monks and the city’s incredible illuminated night market.
As part of our wider Vietnam and Cambodia tours, our Laos tours also offer a broader perspective of this evocative region. As well as time in Luang Prabang, you can take a cruise along the serene Mekong in Cambodia to marvel at the spectacular, UNESCO-lusted Angkor Wat temple complex. Other must-sees include intriguing Phnom Penh, as well as Vietnam’s charismatic Ho Chi Minh city – formerly Saigon – and chaotic, French-colonial era capital, Hanoi. Plus, you’ll get the chance to enjoy a cruise around Halong Bay, where hundreds of limestone islands rear up from the sea, creating a scene that looks like it’s dropped from a storybook.
And our Vietnam and Cambodia holidays with Laos tours don’t stop there. Why not stay longer in this stunning part of the world by adding a stay on the blissful beaches of Koh Samui, Phuket or Phu Quoc?
